U Of S Residence Agreement

- December 19, 2020

4.1 Under this agreement, the student`s right to occupy a dwelling unit is not at any time transferable or surrendered. Any attempt to do so requires appropriate disciplinary measures, including, but not only at the end of the student`s licence, to occupy a dwelling unit and the opportunity to reapply for a stay in university residences. There are different agreements depending on where you live; Choose the corresponding link on the right side of this page to see a preview of specific residency contracts (you will receive an official copy of your contract by email when you enter into your confirmation contract). Students who are offered a position on a waiting list must send a $500 deposit to secure their position on the waiting list. Participants on the waiting list are informed of their status. They are also invited to sign a “waiting list agreement” before their filing is processed. Occupancy Period The occupancy period for each semester begins with the scheduled date and expected duration of the stay and ends 24 hours after each student`s final examination, in accordance with the formal examination plan established by the clerk. As a result, occupancy time may vary from student to student. The period of occupancy covers the entire year of study, in accordance with the 8-month residence contract.

Between Friday, September 4 and Monday, September 7, 2020, students are allowed to occupy their rooms from the chosen check-in time (during normal university opening hours). Students who do not occupy their room or who register the dean on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at the vic.dean@utoronto.ca of late arrival waive their right of occupancy and the room will be given to another student. Residences are closed on December 23, 2020 from 10 a.m. to January 3, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Unless otherwise authorized by the university, all students must leave their rooms during the winter period and no meal services are offered during this period. The university`s commitment to the development, maintenance and protection of a residential atmosphere without discriminatory harassment means that words, symbols and/or acts that make the educational and social environment of the university hostile or offensive or offensive or impruded a person on the basis of race, sex, religion, skin colour, profession of faith, disability, sexual orientation, family, national origin, national ancestry, ancestry or age. 6.3 After the resignation, the student is expected to evacuate the dwelling unit immediately.

Within 24 hours of actual or constructive notification, if the student does not release the unit, give the keys, and facilitate an inspection and inventory accounting of all the university`s properties, the university may impose additional fines, appropriate sanctions and disciplinary measures. The university may, at its sole discretion, make arrangements and/or exceptions for students for whom no travel is possible during the winter break, provided that these students are required to enter into a separate residence contract and a meal package.
